Challenges Encountered in Medical Interventions After the Hatay Earthquakes
The severe earthquakes in Turkey’s Hatay province on February 6, 2023 were one of the deadliest disasters in the country’s history. The research of İsmail Tayfur and his team, published in the journal Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness, addresses the difficulties experienced in providing health services in the field after these earthquakes. The research emphasizes that the first 72 hours after the earthquake are critical to reduce casualties and save survivors. This qualitative research conducted in Hatay reveals in detail the difficulties faced by medical teams in the chaos environment experienced in the region and solutions to these difficulties.
